Some cards I made tonight.

Well, I didn't get any scrapbooking done tonight, but I did make some cards. My Stampin' Up order arrived, and I had to try out my new toys: a Stamp-a-ma-jig & some Daubers.

The cards use:
SU Cardstock - Sahara Sand; More Mustard; Not Quite Navy
CM Cardstock - print from the Shades of Amber
SU Stamps - words: Happy Harmony; flowers: Petal Prints
SU slit punch
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - swirls
MM Staples
Spotlight Ribbon

So . . . What makes you happy?

This is something that I have been thinking about lately, what makes me happy? I thought it might make a good BoM page, so I'll think it out loud!!

Some of the answers are easy:
  • My loving and understanding husband - he knows who I really am, and loves me just the same.
  • My three wonderful boys - I love being the mother of teenage boys, they are fun and keep you on your toes.
  • My horses - there is nothing better than going out into the paddock and talking to them, especially Angel, our new baby . . . or taking Cricket for a ride in the bush - changes a sad day into a happy one!
  • My dogs - sometimes I wonder why we have three, but I love how they greet you at the door, or when you arrive home after being out.
  • My cat - I was not really a cat person, but Midnight is not really a cat!
  • My friends - the ones who understand me, and care about what I am going through . . . you know who you are!

Then it gets a little harder, what are some of the little things that make me happy, or bring a smile to my face?

  • The smell of the bush, after the rain on a parched and dry land
  • The sound of the rain, on our tin roof
  • A rainbow in the sky
  • The smell of coffee . . . and then the taste of a good brewed coffee
  • CHOCOLATE
  • An unexpected parcel in the mail, from a friend, who just wanted to say hi, and bring a smile
  • Sharing a good laugh - with John, or the boys, or a friend.
  • Shoes - I love shoes
  • A good book - one that you can get lost in

I am sure there are others . . . I guess some make me really happy, and others just bring a smile to my face, but in the end, the result is the same . . . the spirits are lifted and the heart is lighter.

Naming my Foal

Giving a name to our foal has not been easy . . . it is harder than naming our boys!!
The little girls, where our foal came from had named her 'Angelina' . . . I didn't think I could call her that, but I did like the 'Angel' part, and it seems to suit her!
So, with the help of some good friend on a message board that I visit regularly, I have narrowed my name choices down to two . . . "Shindeagan Angelfire" - this is just a nice, fancy name (Shindeagan apparently means 'beautiful star') or "Zips Cuttin Angel" - this reflects her lineage, and keeps 'Angel' in her name!
Her Sire is 'Zips Larry Two' and her Dam 'Not Quite Cuttin'.
What do you think?
Here we are . . . 'Angel' and me.

Fairy Toadstools

I went away on a Scrapbooking and Stamping Retreat last weekend. I did get a little bit of scrapbooking done, I made some cards and did a couple of stamping classes. I also went for a walk to see the "fairy toadstools" that everyone was talking about.

I can't wait to scrapbook these! I love Autumn . . . the smells and the colours, and this adds a beautiful slant to an Autumn layout, don't you think?

A New Foal

I have never had a blog before, but I thought it might be fun to start one.

Yesterday, we picked up our new foal. She is 7 months old, born on Oct 20th 2006. We are still thinking through names for her. She is a bay coloured QH, with a lovely temperament.

She is very friendly, coming up to me when I go into her paddock. She keeps going to the fence between herself and our other horses to try to talk to them. I think she will be a great little horse.
