Wednesday at Tamworth

Today was quite a bit hotter than yesterday . . . starting to feel like real Tamworth weather, and the week is only going to get hotter!

Pray for us that we get the rest that we need, so that we can survive the days.  It is now about 10pm, and is has cooled down considerably, so it looks like we will be able to sleep tonight, which is great.

The morning started out with John and Dan heading down to the tent to start the PA for the morning session, whilst the band worked out what they were going to do for the days sessions.

Morning Practise session

How does that go again?

After that was sorted, it was time to head to Bruce and Pam’s for lunch and then onto the afternoon in the tent.

Bruce O’Hara singing with Strange Country.

Dave Knight does a great talk with his sketch board as part of the Strange Country and Friends set, during the afternoon and evening sessions.

Some creative photos taken during the afternoon session.

I am typing this up as I sit and listen to Terry Darmody singing with Strange Country. The weather is cooler. The tent has a nice smattering of people wandering in and out, and enjoying the music, and the gospel that is being shared with them as they sit and listen.

Talk to you again tomorrow :)

Tamworth – Day Two

OK . . . so you haven’t heard about Day One yet, and if the truth be known, it is really Day Three!!

Anyway . . . It is Day Two of work!  And I’ll show you a little of Day One whilst I am at it!

So, yesterday, we had the chance to chill a little after the long drive up on Sunday.  Then, in the afternoon we set up at the Southside Uniting Church for a concert that evening.

Here are just a couple of photos from Monday night . . .

Strange Country . . .

It is always a fun night.

Now, today . . .

We start early today, as we have to get the PA al set up before the first act comes on at 11am . . . so Breaky at 7am and out the door by 8am.  When everybody helps, it is pretty quick to set up, then John and Dan did the final sorting out and fine tuning. It is really great to have Dan here to help (he does get to play too . . . I think he is off having a swim now!)

So, we have done one set with Strange Country, and I have been listening to some great music here in the Scripture Union Tent.

Here are some Strange Country photos from this afternoon . . . click on the link to view the album.

Well, until later.

Time for me to go for a walk and check out some of the stalls before we start again this evening . . . John even has a break for an hour or so!!

Party Day tomorrow

Sometimes working shift work is a good thing!

My girlfriend Lou is turning 40 tomorrow, and we are having a Chicken & Champagne breakfast, lunch at the beach, and who know what in the afternoon/evening!!

It is so nice to be able do stuff like this when everyone else is at work!

The weather is supposed to be warm, so it should be a good day. I’ll let you know all about it after tomorrow.

Chat later

Quiet around the house . . .

It is quiet here this week.  None of the boys are home, so it is just John and me!

Matt has just finished a week at Apollo Bay Beach Mission, and is now (I expect) chilling out with Amy and her family, before they come home on the weekend.
Daniel is leading at Mill Valley Ranch again this week. I wonder if he is getting any sleep?
Nathan is house sitting . . . looking after a couple of little dogs that like to try and escape!!

It was kinda strange sitting down to a roast dinner for two tonight (I had to cook it as the freezer had defrosted - but that is a whole 'nother story!!).  The upside is . . . John and I both have a roast dinner for lunch tomorrow as well :)

Well, that is all for me tonight.
I  am half watching "The Commander" on tv, checking out photos on facebook, typing on this blog, and trying to read my new photography magazines.  Might be time to go to bed and read the magazines . . . after I finish my coffee and tiramisu dessert :)

Streamlining my life . . .

or maybe complicating it!!

I have not written on this blog for a long, long time, but I have decided to reactivate it again!
I have a number of blogs . . . for scrapbooking, photography, knitting and designing.  I decided I needed somewhere just to talk about stuff!!

Here it is . . . the Happenings in MY Life, and lets face it . . . the story does begin at home.
So, if you are interested in what my family and I are up to, or just want to see what is inside my head . . . and gets out sometimes, join me here.  It may be daily, it may be weekly, who knows when I'll write, but if I do, you can read it!

How to get more out of a day?
I couldn't sleep last night, my head was buzzing . . . it does that sometimes!!
As I lay there trying to quieten the noise, I had to listen to what was going on!  I think I have come up with a way to get more out of my day!!

Are you a time waster?  Not a morning person?  Well, this is me, but it is time to take my life under control and stop sleeping it away, and make the hours I am up useful.  I have come up with a plan!!
I figured if I wrote it down, you could check it I am sticking to it . . . or at least trying it!!

I work shift work, so some of the things need to be adjusted for those early mornings, and days at work, but here goes . . .

My Plan . . .
  • Go to bed at a reasonable hour  - this means in bed by 11pm (and earlier if I have to be up early for work)
  • Get up at a regulart time everyday - this means up by 8am (again, it will be 5.30am on the days that I work)
  • Spend that first hour having breakfast, coffee and reading my bible - this seems to be something that has gone by the wayside lately and I need to bring it back to the forefront of my life. If there is time I could check my emails, but I think that is better done later, otherwise I get caught there!
  • Be showered and dressed by 9am (on the days that I am home) and do a general tidy up of the house - if I spend an hour or so on the days I am home, then I should be able to keep on top of this.  This should also make it easier for my cleaner (if she still needs the work) to get around and clean efficiently.
  • So, by about 10am, I should be just about free to do whatever I feel like!!
  • Turn off the TV - this is such a time waster, and I can spend hours just wasting a good day outside; same goes for limiting the time on the computer . . . although this gets hard as I use it for photography and scrapbooking!!
Things that I want to do, for ME, on the days I am home . . .
  • Photography -  read, learn and try out new things in photography to improve my skills and the photos that I take.  I would even like to do a course if I can find a local one that is not too expensive.
  • Scrapbooking - both paper and digital scrapbooking.  This kinda goes hand in hand with the photography, and wanting to preserve some of our family's history.
  • Other PaperCrafts - this includes cardmaking, off the page things, and anything else that I can sit at my craft table and dream up.  I also need to make up ideas for the LSS that I work in
  • Ride my Horses - it is silly having them if I am not working them, and I really enjoy it when I get out on them.  We also have one that needs to be broken in, so that will take some time too.
  • Spend time doing stuff with John - we both like to ride, go our for dinner, and I am sure we would enjoy going to the movies together. Time to get off our butts and just do it . . . not like we need a babysitter anymore.
  • Blogging - I am enjoying getting back into this, and would like to try and keep it up . . . we'll see how we go!!
OK . . . I am sure there is lots more things I could add to this list.  But if I keep typing, I won't be able to get started on the list.  So . . . off to clean up the house, but away the Christmas tree, and hopefully get started on some of the "play" stuff this afternoon!!

What have I been up to??

Wow, it is ages since I have posted on my blog . . . guess it is time I updated it :)

I went away with a group of girlfriends recently. We stayed in a BEAUTIFUL Mansion, and scrapbooked, made cards and just chilled out together. It was a great way to finish off my weeks holiday from work . . . I left DH and the boys at home to fend for themselves. (Secretly . .. I think they love it . . . loud music, junk food, late nights . . . yep . . . they had a boys weekend!!).

Anyway, here are some of the layouts I have done of the weekend, as you can see, I haven't journalled yet . . . but I will!

What do you think??

Some cards I made tonight.

Well, I didn't get any scrapbooking done tonight, but I did make some cards. My Stampin' Up order arrived, and I had to try out my new toys: a Stamp-a-ma-jig & some Daubers.

The cards use:
SU Cardstock - Sahara Sand; More Mustard; Not Quite Navy
CM Cardstock - print from the Shades of Amber
SU Stamps - words: Happy Harmony; flowers: Petal Prints
SU slit punch
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - swirls
MM Staples
Spotlight Ribbon
